The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Hassan Adan, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Turkish company OYAK during its working visit to Somalia.

As part of the visit, Minister Adan hosted a luncheon in honour of the delegation. The gathering reflected Somalia’s hospitality and provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry and OYAK.

The visit followed an agreement between the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy and OYAK to establish SOMTURK, a jointly owned company dedicated to developing, investing in, and commercializing Somalia’s fisheries sector.

SOMTURK is expected to support efforts to unlock the country’s fisheries potential, attract investment, create economic opportunities, and promote the sustainable development of its marine resources.

The luncheon was also attended by the Ministry’s Director General, Mr. Abdi Diirshe, alongside other senior officials from the Ministry.
